Southern Downs Steam Railway

Ride the historic line no road can reach

A guided 4WD expedition along the old Southern Downs railway corridor, out of Warwick and into the Granite Belt.

Scroll

Not a tour. A journey down a line the trains have run for over a century.

01

Roll out of Warwick

We set off from the restored 1880s Warwick Railway Station precinct and head out along the rail corridor, leaving the sealed roads behind.

02

Cross the trestle bridges

Heritage timber trestle bridges and creek crossings carry the line over country you simply cannot drive to any other way.

03

Into open country

River flats and open grazing land open up around you, with your guide sharing the history of the line as it rolls by.

04

The Granite Belt

The hills of the Granite Belt rise up on the horizon, the kind of view that has rolled past these carriages for more than a hundred years.
